Project-Based Learning with KEY Academy

Empowering educators. Embedding impact.

In 2024, KEY Academy, a pioneering school in Nigeria committed to redefining education through 21st-century project-based learning, partnered with Longworth Education to deepen and strengthen its pedagogical approach. Guided by Dr. Sarah Aiono, our collaboration centred around the year-long professional development journey using an adapted P-BLOT™ framework—a tool designed to support educators in delivering high-quality, evidence-informed project-based learning.

This partnership wasn’t just about training. It was about building capacity, fostering reflective practice, and strengthening leadership within the school.

What Made This Partnership Work?

Evidence-informed tools: The P-BLOT™ offered a shared language and research-based indicators that made reflective practice concrete and actionable.

Sustained professional learning: A year-long engagement supported deep integration, not just surface-level application.

Local leadership development: Educators at KEY became instructional leaders, with personal growth goals aligned to the P-BLOT™ domains.

Cultural responsiveness: Longworth’s approach prioritised listening, contextual relevance, and co-construction—ensuring the work made sense for KEY’s unique setting.
